![]() Grand Prix Adventures have a passion for motor-sport, not content with merely offering "trips", everyone at the company have a genuine interest in racing. Whilst our speciality is Formula One, we are delighted and proud to be supporting Mr. [Flash] Gordon Shedden in the 2006 British Touring Car Championship.
Gordon hails from Fife in Scotland and has been trying to break into
the BTCC for many years. He has come very close running in the Seat Cupra
Challenge for 2 seasons but that illustrious drive in the BTCC always
eluded him. Not short of pace and talent, Gordon was beginning to think
he would be yet another one of those drivers with plenty of talent but not
the required backing to see him compete at the higher levels. At the end
of 2005, Gordon with GPA and the Clydesdale Bank managed to pull together
a deal to see him race alongside 2005 champion Matt Neal in the Team
Dynamics Honda Integra, not only has Gordon secured a drive in the BTCC,
he has secured one of the best seats in which to compete.

![]() GPA attended the opening round of the BTCC at Brands Hatch to support Gordon in his first drive with Team Dynamics. Alas, luck was not on his side with a wheel failure in qualifying and then a throttle linkage failure for race 1. In race 2 Gordon scythed his way through the field from the back of the grid until he had the misfortune of trying to share the same piece of tarmac with one of the Seat drivers - this lead to Gordon finishing his outstanding performance in the gravel at Paddock Hill bend. Race 3 Gordon once again lined up at the back of the field but used his skill to finish the race 5th, he was looking good for a podium finish but the race was stopped early as Gordon's team-mate ended up in the same gravel trap after a shunt with the RAC car. Gordon reflected on his weekend: "Well, not the best way to start my 2006 campaign, but nonetheless the encouragement I take from the weekend at Brands is that there is a lot of speed in the car. Starting from the back of the grid in race 2 and 3 I was able to make up lots of places, and my team-mate made it to the podium in race one from the back of the field. The team did an excellent job of getting the car ready for race 3 after I was punted off into the gravel. All in all, to come away with some points towards the title was a great result."
The BTCC now moves to Mondello Park in Ireland for the second meeting
of the championship. All at GPA wish Gordon much success in the coming
races, should you be attending any of the BTCC meetings, look out for
Flash Gordon (#52) in his bright orange Team Dynamics Honda Integra.
